There are a world of new things in my print shop; glass paintings in honey tones and rusted hues, small-scale vellum prints that whisper tales of notes of light on walls and sing in amber through autumn grasses… there’s also something altogether very different in the form of cotton (and silk) scarves.
The scarves are a long-time in the making and feel incredibly special to me. They can be worn or framed and play with the light, their depth of colour and subtle opacity give them an ethereal nature. It feels good to send them out into the world for my artwork to take on a new direction. They’re very gift-able too ;-)
*just a note to say that due to the time it takes to make these I’d recommend ordering before the 11th for the best chance of them arriving with you before The Big Deadline. Substack readers find out first about my shop updates so you get first dibs on everything!*
Here are a few other creatives that have shop openings plus some other suggestions for gifting wonderful things or experiences for the shiny season and beyond:
Sophie Farrar has a shop update tonight, Pacha also has an update tonight and it’s the last chance to shop Becky Crowley’s botanical prints her shop closes tonight!)
a natural wine subscription from Bench, sour cherry curd from the Chatsworth Farm Shop, commission a personal ingredient plate from Camilla Wordie, hand blown wine glasses from Nettle and Tansy
pebble soap from Egg, a plaster cabbage leaf from Jess Wheeler, a David Mellor glass candlestick, absolutely anything made by Pottery West, these dishes from Francine’s
an aluminium plant pot from Studio & Store, pretty much anything from Completedworks or Cawley Studio
Saul Leiter by Saul Leiter from World of Books, scan in the family photographs and make photo books from them, this Issey Miyake/Irving Penn book from Oxfam, Thrown by Lilly Maetzig, Hark by Alice Vincent and anything else from my Bookshop lists (I take list-making v seriously)
tickets to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, a workshop with Ria of House of Wabi Sabi, a coded wrap scarf by Millicent Sanders, a knot workshop with Nots, anything from the Settle shop or vouchers to stay there
and lastly, the advice to take the time to look your phone pictures from the year, print them and pop them in an album (as a gift for you or others) you will be so thankful in years to come. Double points if you write the location & dates on the back.
Thank you!
I want it all xx
'Shadows in Kyoto' and 'Glass Paintings - At Night' are really nice. Love photographs and texture.
