Hopewood Baskets for Toast
It is early September, the sky is bruised and I am negotiating my way around a summer-beaten garden of shoulder height verbena and bronzed seed heads, with a bright orange Alice by my side. As well as someone that I regularly WhatsApp pictures of vegetable scraps to, Alice happens to be one of my favourite writers (I just LOVE how her work* is poetic but packed with realness that stops any kind of rose-tinted over-glorification) so to be working alongside her makes me feel as though I’ve cheated the system. Our assignment; to delve into the world of Sarah and Marcus of Hopewood Baskets and since Alice is the wordsmith, I shall leave the storytelling to her…
